For the longest time, when it came to choosing a vacation hotspot in Latin America, Nicaragua has been over shadowed by its neighbors and overlooked by travelers and tourists.

Travel & Tourism Investment

Now, Nicaragua is on the brink of a tourism boom.

So why should you book your next vacation in Nicaragua? To start, Nicaragua is known as the “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes.” In other words, it is simply beautiful. The attractions are plentiful, with its colorful, antique Spanish Colonial architecture, volcano trekking, pristine beaches, surfing, delicious traditional food, and friendly people to name just a few.

In 2017, visitor arrivals in Nicaragua grew at a faster rate than any other country in Central America or South America, according to the World Tourism Barometer 2017, published by the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization).

In the past decade, tourism in Nicaragua increased by 394% because of its physical beauty, many attractions, and safety in the country. According to data from the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR), in 2016, Nicaragua received 1.5 million tourists, who left $642 million dollars in foreign exchange.

Tourism is now a big factor in Nicaragua’s economy, making up about 5% of the GDP. The Gross Domestic Product per capita has increased steadily for the past five years, and now Nicaragua has one of the strongest economies in Central America. The growth in tourism has had a positive affect on the agricultural, commercial, finance, and construction industries as well. The results of Nicaragua’s tourism-driven economy have been significant. The Nicaraguan government is improving infrastructure and offering more hotels and activities for tourists. Four & five-star hotels now exist, along with many hostels for backpackers.

Gran Pacifica Amenities

The thriving adventure tourism in Nicaragua is expected to increase 10% per year from this point forward. Great numbers indeed! If you are looking for a tropical getaway, consider staying at the beach and golf resort, Gran Pacifica. See why this destination was ranked by TripAdvisor as one of the top accommodations in Nicaragua!
