When you want to surf, you want to surf and there is nothing more annoying than the waves not being there for you. The San Diego Beach at Gran Pacifica Resort is one of the most consistent surf breaks in Nicaragua, and regardless of the swell there is always a wave to surf.
Great Lake Cocibolca creates special winds that give waves an outstanding consistency and quality for surfing. Since the wind is offshore it is possible to do multiple sessions per day (depending on the tides of course).
Nicaragua is still not as crowded as a lot of other countries, but more and more surfers are discovering it. The main swell season is from March until November, but you can always beat the peak days by taking a boat out or by surfing early morning or late afternoon.

According to Frieda Zamba, the four time world surfing champion, the waves off Gran Pacifica beaches are in the same league as Bali. Depending on the swell, San Diego Beach is suitable for all levels of surfing and Gran Pacifica offers surfing lessons to beginners and those who want to start surfing again.
Of course you don't have to surf to enjoy the spectacular 3.5 mile long, white sand beaches that Gran Pacifica owns. You can do that very well sitting under a parasol or walking at the edge of the sea.
