During our nine-day mid-winter visit to Gran Pacifica Resort in Nicaragua, we arranged with our concierge to take a day trip to the Spanish colonial city of Granada. This amazing place dates to the 1520s, founded by Spanish conquistadores.

Most of the highly-specialized hospitals are located in Managua. Both Vivian Pellas Metropolitan Hospital and Hospital Bautista offer quality care to Nicaraguans and to medical tourists. Though there are some improvements to be made to the hospitals and medical care system in terms of equipment offered, the healthcare system is still better than many countries in the world.

Nicaragua has some great events for tourists and the Poetry Festival in Granada is a huge one drawing over 100 poets from over 60 countries.
