Living in Nicaragua we learn about the natural remedies that are different than the ones in North America. Last week my daughter strained some muscles in her back. It was recommended that she drink a tea of dried almond leaves and dried mango leaves. It is an anti inflammatory tea that she must drink 2 liters a day for 2 weeks. It seems to be helping and it tastes pretty good too!
Mango and almond leaves have other uses as well. They say that if your baby has colic he should drink the tea made from the almond leaves and if you have rheumatism you can apply the almond tea directly to the area of pain. The mango leaf tea can be used to lower blood pressure and to treat anxiety.
Here is the recipe for the anti inflammatory tea.
Add to two liters of boiling water:
Two dried almond leaves
Two dried mango leaves
Let it steep for 15 minutes and drink, hot or cold throughout the day.
