A new Miss Nicaragua was just crowned! The contestants of the Miss Nicaragua Contest all competed very nobly to win the coveted title, but of course there could be only one winner. The winner of the crown and title of Miss Nicaragua for 2017 is Berenice Quezada.

Ms. Quezada, pictured here with Gran Pacifica’s own Fredman Valenzuela, is the candidate from the city of El Rama. This is the first time that her city has had a candidate in the Miss Nicaragua contest, and she was very happy to win the crown and bring pride to her home town.

Ms. Quezada currently lives in Managua, which she moved to in 2011 to study Tourism and Hotel Administration. She currently works for one of the best international hotels in the country. She says that she comes from a very humble family and has fought very hard to get where she is. She said, “I am very proud of all of the Miss Nicaragua contestants who have represented our country, they have demonstrated that they are capable of anything. My goal is to be a great representative of Nicaragua; I want to be for Nicaragua. I want to be able to come to the communities and to be inspirational and to say to the people that it is possible to reach their dreams.”

This was also the first year that the Mujer Pencona award was given out. This award, whose name translates to Brave Woman, was won by Ms. Vanessa Baldizón, who was the candidate from León. She is pictured below, with Gran Pacifica’s Giovanni Rodriguez.

It was a great contest and Gran Pacifica was very happy to have been a part of it.
